Is your company HIPAA compliant?  On April 14, 2004, all employer groups with less than $5 million in plan costs, will be required to be compliant under the HIPAA Privacy Rule.  If you are not sure what this means, do not panic!  As your brokers, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure compliancy and will assist you in meeting these requirements.  The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has provided an Educational Materials Page to assist covered entities  to comply with the privacy rule.  The OCR is also warning:  "Be aware of misleading marketing claims."  The OCR states that "The Privacy Rule does not require attendance at any specific seminars.  All of OCR's materials are available free on our web site."   For your convenience, we have compiled a HIPAA checklist available on our Forms page.  If you need additional training in this area, "HIPAA Essentials" at Learning.net is an excellent  resource.
